We’re very excited about our East London event. As always we’ll be bringing together young teenagers and the tech companies keen to explain what it takes to be part of their world. TeenTechCity will take place in London’s newest event space, Cisco House – which is being built on top of Westfield overlooking the Olympic Park
Exhibitors will include some of the most innovative companies in East London – such as Glass Eye, Pavegen and Sugru alongside the BBC, BT, Atkins, Thames Water, London Underground and Thomson Reuters. In all, over 20 companies, from global to start-up will be bringing their shiniest technology and their best engineers and scientists.
Teenagers from 15 schools across East London will experience a day of activities and experiments.
We’ll be running informal sessions with teachers, entrepreneurs and business leaders to share practical examples of what helps to inspire and enthuse young people.
Ian Foddering , CTO Cisco explained why they were so keen to support the event. “It is essential for organisations and the British economy that we address the shortcomings in IT skills, while assisting students to maximise their potential. One way Cisco is looking to do this is by investing in STEM awareness, such as TeenTech and “out of the blocks” helping students, teachers and parents to think differently about ICT in particular. Exciting and enthusing people about the amazing diversity and long term career opportunities that existing in this rewarding and stimulating industry.”
Michaele Hawkins, from ELBA says , “The East London Business Alliance is delighted to be working in partnership with TeenTech. This is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the opportunities that exist in the world of science and technology to the young people we work with across East London as well as to showcase the innovative work of some of our member companies to a wider audience.”
