For the third consecutive year students from all over Surrey will get together for the day to attend TeenTech Surrey and learn just how their love of technology could lead to a wealth of career opportunities developing the next generation of gadgets.

We have a record 340 students attending the event this year at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford on Wednesday 12th November.  These Yr8/9 students will get the opportunity to try their hand at experiments, to handle leading edge technology and, most importantly to spend time with the Engineers, Technologists and Scientists dispelling gender stereotypes and shifting perceptions of careers teenagers may not have previously considered.  Amongst the Uk’s top Companies attending the Surrey event are: HP, GSK, CGG Veritas, Laleham Healthcare, SSTL – Surrey Satellites, BOC, JVC, University of Surrey, NPL, Bloodhound, SepNet (inflatable planetarium) and The Pirbright Institute.

Business Ambassadors

There is still time for companies and individuals working in the Science and Technology sector to participate either by running an interactive activity or as an ‘Ambassador’ for the day guiding a group of 10 students round the difference activities, taking part as you go and acting as a role model, inspiring and informing the students about the contemporary business world.

Free event for 6th Formers and FE students

We are also offering a free event for 6th formers and FE students to meet these companies from 15.30-17.00.  This is a unique opportunity for any students considering a career in science, technology or engineering to discover more about the latest technology as well as quizzing lots of scientists and engineers about what their jobs are like.

  1. I’m Head of ICT at a large comprehensive in Hounslow and would be really interested in details of events in Surrey and neighbouring counties.

  2. Gorete says:

I have 2 teenage sons who are very keen on science and technology, can I just bring them to the event, or the visit must be organised by their school?

    Kind regards,

    • Hi Gorete

Students come to TeenTech with their schools but in 2013 some of our events will open to the public in the late afternoon. How near are you to the Surrey event?

  3. Mette says:

This is not on the Sports Parks calendar yet -what time does it finish after school and do we just turn up ? I am in Guildford.
    thank you

      Hi Mette,

      Thanks for your message.

You can only attend the TeenTech event at Surrey Sports Park as part of a group from your school – why not ask your teacher to see if there are any places left by contacting Dani Longhurst at SATRO on I’m afraid it isn’t possible for you to just turn up on the day.

If you would like to get involved in TeenTech in another way then you could enter the TeenTech Awards – why not take a look at the Awards page and ask your teacher to register?

      best wishes,

    • Hi Mette
